Can I Use The Digi Sync To Replace My Traditional Vacuum Gauge?
Absolutely! This would give you two tools in one.
A traditional vacuum gauge can be helpful in any repair shop for diagnosing a large variety of automotive issues.
To do this, connect one of the hoses and ignore the others to get a highly accurate vacuum reading.
Will The Digi Sync Work On My Vehicle?
Generally, the answer is YES if you have a performance vehicle.
Our product works on any carburetor or throttle body that has a vacuum port where you can connect our hoses. Some older styles, such as Bing CV and Holley carburetors (found on many muscle cars), do not have this port and must be measured from the mouth of the carburetor, requiring a different style tool.
The Digi Sync would not be used for synchronization on any vehicle with a single carburetor or throttle body. Generally speaking, these are non-performance vehicles. This includes most Harley Davidson’s and basic automobiles.
What numbers should I use for synchronization?
Many people try to overcomplicate this. Even your shop manual likely explains dialing your numbers into a specific range. In reality, the actual value isn’t important. What is important is getting all the numbers to match (be “synchronized” with one another) at the desired RPM (typically idle).
It’s really that simple! Doing this will ensure your engine runs optimally.
Will I be able to get all the numbers to match perfectly?
Some engines, particularly older engines, simply won’t allow for a precise synchronization. The Digi Sync simply lets you get these numbers to match as closely as your machine will allow.
In general, values within 1-2 kPa of each other are considered VERY good. However, even values differing by as much as 8 kPa can still lead to acceptable results.
Will the numbers bounce around, like on my analog gauges?
Typically, the values shown on The Digi Sync are stable within a couple of digits, but they can bounce around for the following reasons:
1.) You have an air leak with your tool installation. Push the hoses tightly into the unit. Make sure they don’t pop off the unit with a light tug. Also, make sure the hoses are securely connected to your machine. Use clamps, or temporary zip ties, if necessary.
2.) You have an air leak on your machine. Check for air leaks on the entire intake system.
3.) This highly accurate instrument is indicating there is another issue with your vehicle. An example of this would be burnt fuel valves.
The units displayed are kPa. Can I change this?
Yes! Simply press and hold the power button to cycle through the following units:
- kPa (default at every power-up)
- mBar
- InHg (x10)
- mmHg
- PSI (x10)
- DigiSync Ver<3.1 (these values correlate with older Digi Sync units)
Are the hoses removable/replaceable?
Yes, the hoses are held in place with a friction barb inside the unit. Use slow, but firm, pressure to pull the hose out of the unit.
You can then take the hose to any automotive repair shop and replace the hoses with an automotive grade windshield wiper hose of the same inner diameter (5/32″ I.D.).
Then, just slowly and firmly push the new hose back into your unit. A twisting motion can be very helpful with this.
Note: Be sure the length of each hose is consistent.
Note: Starting in late 2024, our hoses have an installation marking line. If you can see the line, it means the hoses has come out of the unit slightly and needs to be pushed back in.
How do I turn the unit off? Nothing happens when I press the power button!
You are likely pressing the button too quickly. Try again with a good firm press.
Additional Info: The unit was intentionally designed this way to allow one button to perform many actions. The software measures how long the button was pressed. Several quick presses are used to disable the auto-power down feature. A long-press-and-hold is used to cycle between the units displayed.
Will The 6-Channel Version Work For Engines With 2 & 4 Carbs Or Throttle Bodies?
Yes, the 6-channel version will work on engines with 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6 carbs or throttle bodies.
Similarly, the 4-channel version will work on engines with 2, 3, & 4 carbs or throttle bodies.
Note: When not using a channel, leave the hose hanging free and open. Do NOT cap it off.
How is RPM measured without any wires?
The Digi Sync precisely measures every vacuum pulse. It uses this data to calculate the RPM.
Note: The firmware assumes the engine is a 4-stroke. Otherwise, if it is a 2-stroke (very rare for this application), the RPM displayed by The Digi Sync will need to be multiplied by 2 to get the correct value.
Does The Digi Sync Come With A Warranty?
Yes, it comes with a standard 1-year warranty! AND, it comes with a 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee!
We take great pride and stand behind our American-made products. The Digi Sync digital vacuum gauge is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of purchase. We will repair or replace the equipment (at our option) provided you have followed the usage instructions and not abused your device.
Note: Longer warranty periods are also available for purchase.
How Long Do the Batteries Last?
A standard 9V battery should last approx. 10-15 hours of operation.
If you forget to turn your unit off, no worries because The Digi Sync is programmed to automatically shutdown after 1 hour of inactivity.
I run a Carb Synchronization business and need The Digi Sync to stay on permanently. How can I disable to the auto-power off feature?
Press the power button 4 times QUICKLY to toggle the auto shutdown feature.
Note: You can optionally replace the 9V battery with a 9VDC power adapter so you never have to replace the battery. We do not sell this adapter, but they are easily found online.
Can I purchase additional Vacuum Caps, M5, or M6 Adapters?
Yes, we sell these separately on our Amazon store (https://amzn.to/4g7QaHH).
What Are The Vacuum Caps For?
If your bike is more than a few years old, chances are that your vacuum caps may be cracked and brittle from aging making them prone to ripping when you pull them off. We’ve added these replacement vacuum caps for free as a courtesy hoping it’ll save you a trip to the dealer.
What is the short tube included in my kit used for?
This can be a very useful tool when installing the M5 or M6 Adapters on your Throttle Body or Carburetor.
Simply place the adapter into one end of the tube and use it as a flexible extension to reach the threaded port hole and screw in the adapter.
What Is The Purpose Of The Internal Magnet?
The internal magnet allows users stick The Digi Sync to metal gas tanks or even the frame of their vehicle.
Why Are The Numbers On My Digi Sync Showing Up Different Than What I See On Some of The YouTube Videos?
Older versions of The Digi Sync used custom units that will show approximately 26 without the engine running. Starting with software version 3.1, The Digi Sync now powers-up showing units in kPa and should be between 0.0 and 2.0 with the engine off.
What Are The Differences Between each Model & Software Version?
This information can be found at the bottom of Our Story.
Do You Offer Software Upgrades?
Very sorry, but we do NOT offer software upgrades at this time. Despite it being cost prohibitive, there are sometimes hardware changes between versions that would make the newer software versions incompatible with older versions of hardware. We are always innovating and will keep this feature request in-mind for the future.
Is Your Logo Inspired By The Popular Netflix Series Squid Game?
Sorry, but no. We only play “Red-light, Green-light” on our bikes at the stoplights. Our Hexapod logo was uniquely our own creation many years before “Squid Game” was aired on TV.
