Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Why Sync Your Carburetors or Throttle Bodies?

Because your shop manual demands it.
Maintenance goes beyond just oil changes and tire pressure. Over time, cables stretch, throttle body components shift, and engine components fall out of alignment, robbing you of power, efficiency, and a smooth ride.

Can I use Digi Sync to replace my traditional vacuum gauge?

Yes! Digi Sync gives you two tools in one. To use it as a traditional vacuum gauge, simply connect one hose and ignore the others for an accurate vacuum reading.

Will Digi Sync work on my vehicle?

Generally, yes—if you have a performance vehicle. It works on any carburetor or throttle body with a vacuum port. However, some older styles like Bing CV and Holley carburetors require a different tool. Digi Sync is not used for synchronization on single-carburetor or single-throttle-body vehicles.

What numbers should I use for synchronization?

The goal is to get all numbers to match (be synchronized) at the desired RPM (typically idle) as closely as your vehicle will allow. Acquiring a specific value isn’t important. This ensures optimal engine performance. Note: Due to design tolerances and normal wear & tear, some vehicles will allow for a closer sync than others.

Will I be able to get all the numbers to match perfectly?

Not always. Older engines may not allow precise synchronization, but values within 1-2 kPa are considered excellent. Even differences up to 8 kPa can still produce acceptable results.

What to do if the numbers bounce around on my Digi Sync?

A number that toggles between a few kPa is acceptable and reasonable. But if your value is jumping around +10 kPa, you may be questioning if your Digi Sync is defective. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this highly sensitive tool is catching an issue with your vehicle that traditional outdated analog tools won’t. It’s telling you that you have a vacuum leak somewhere.

If your values fluctuate wildly, check the following:

  1. Air leaks in Digi Sync’s installation. Ensure hoses are securely connected to the vehicle and pushed firmly into The Digi Sync. Use band-clamps or zip-ties if necessary on the vehicle. You can even use grease if you’re careful NOT to plug-up the vacuum ports.
  2. Air leaks in the intake system.
  3. An underlying issue with your vehicle, such as sticking intake valves.

Can I change the displayed units?

Yes! Hold the power button to cycle through:

• kPa (default)

• mBar

• InHg (x10)

• mmHg

• PSI (x10)

Hardware & Functionality

Are the hoses removable and replaceable?

Yes! The hoses are secured with a friction barb inside the unit. To replace, use slow and firm pressure to pull out the old hose. Replace with any 5/32″ I.D. automotive-grade windshield wiper hose. Use a slow and firm pressure to push the hose back into place. A slight twisting motion can be helpful. Ensure each hose is the same length.

Note: The hose should push into the unit approx. 1/2” (12mm) deep.

Note: Pulling too hard or too quick can damage the sensor.

How do I turn the unit off?

Firmly tap the power button. The unit will NOT turn off if you press and release too quickly. The unit is intentionally designed this way to allow multiple functions from a single button.

Does the 6-channel version work for engines with 2 or4 carbs/throttle bodies?

Yes, the 6-channel version works on engines with 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 carbs/throttle bodies.

Similarly, the 4-channel version works on engines with 2, 3, or 4 carbs/throttle bodies.

Note: When not using a channel, leave the unused hose open. Do NOT cap it off.

How does Digi Sync measure RPM without wires or a tachometer input signal?

Digi Sync calculates RPM by measuring the engine’s vacuum pulses.

What is the purpose of the internal magnet?

The internal magnet is useful for sticking Digi Sync onto a metal surface, like a gas tank or steel bars.

Power & Battery

How long do the batteries last?

A standard 9V battery should last up-to 15 hours.

Note: In the event you forget to turn off your unit, it will automatically power off after 1 hour of inactivity.

Can I disable the auto-power-off feature?

Yes! Press the power button 4 times quickly to toggle off the auto shutdown feature.

Note: If you run a carb/throttle sync business and plan to leave your Digi Sync on all day, you can use a 9VDC power adapter instead of a battery.

Accessories & Parts

Can I purchase additional vacuum caps, M5, and M6 adapters?

Yes! Take a look at our Products page.

What are the vacuum caps for?

Older bikes may have brittle vacuum caps that tear easily. We include free long-lasting replacements as a courtesy to save you a trip to the dealer.

What is the short tube included in my kit used for?

It helps install M5 or M6 adapters by acting as a flexible extension for threading into the port hole.

Software & Updates

What are the differences between each model and software version?

You can find this information at the bottom of our "Our Story" page.

Do you offer software upgrades?

No, we do not offer software upgrades at this time due to hardware differences between versions.

Warranty & Support

Does Digi Sync come with a warranty?

Yes! It includes a 1-year warranty and a 30-day Satisfaction Guarantee. We stand behind our American-made products. Extended warranties are available for purchase
